Internship Opportunities
Microsoft Research Internship
Microsoft relies on its Research division to lead the way in identifying and developing the technologies of the new century. Imagine having the resources to impact tomorrow's reality today - and having fun while you do it. People here love their work because they get to think big and dream big. At Microsoft you get to collaborate with the best and the brightest. You work with people from all types of backgrounds who excel in a multitude of fields. Why are they here? To create something that matters. Not just to themselves, but to millions of people around the world. And in the process, they can realize their own potential. It's a fun and challenging environment - one powered by innovative people a lot like you. You'll have the opportunity to make a real difference at Microsoft. You'll stretch your skills in new directions and take your talents to new heights. Maybe that's why the intern program is one of the most successful (and popular) in the industry.

Microsoft is searching for outstanding research scientists with the vision, knowledge, passion, and commitment to be part of its team. What better way to get an up close and personal look at this future than by spending the summer working on very challenging projects with some very bright researchers? Past interns have greatly impacted research in key technical areas, published papers based on their summer work at MSR, established strong ties with Microsoft industrial research staff as well as other interns, been challenged to look at super tough problems in new ways, and all the while, having fun doing it.

Here are some comments from past interns:

Microsoft takes care of its interns very well. The internship was a very pleasant experience and being in Microsoft Research, I was able to meet prominent people from different fields of computer science research. The work that is being done is really cutting edge and being able to be a part of it was exciting to say the least.

My experience as an intern was quite positive; however, I think it's far more likely that in a year or two I will be a faculty member interested in working with my group than that I will actually return to become a member of my group. Knowing this group with a strong commitment to university relationships and R&D related to university instruction will be a huge asset as a faculty member.

My mentor, manager and others at MSR are the very best computer scientists on earth today, and getting an opportunity to work and closely interact with them was a great experience. I learned a lot and gained confidence in the direction my doctoral research is taking.
