The Single Particle Reconstruction and Visualization Workshop organized by Wah Chiu, PhD and Steve Ludtke, PhD, Baylor College of Medicine, covered the details of the EMAN software package that is used for reconstructing 3d models from a set of randomly oriented particle images. The workshop was held in the multimedia interactive classroom at the Texas Learning and Computation Center. Background lectures on general reconstruction principles were presented, but the majority of the workshop consisted of hands-on sessions designed to familiarize the attendees with the EMAN software. The EMAN software, known for its ease of use, is provided free of charge as a service to the scientific community. 70 attendees
