Document Actions
The Texas Learning and Computation Center held its Research Seminar Series, held on the second Friday of each month during the 2007-8 school year. Dr. Yuriy Fofanov, Director of the UH Bioinformatics Lab, presented an overview of his bioinformatics research. Dr. Fofanov will present an overview of several projects by the UH Bioinformatics Lab developed with support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Homeland Secuirty (DHS), and TLC2.

Dr. Fofanov's research focuses on statistical properties of appearances of short subsequences (motifs)in genomic sequences in application to:

  • pathogen detection;
  • horizontal gene transfer;
  • evolution of pathogenicity;
  • genomic complexity of environmental samples.
