Acres Homes Community launches web portal with TLC² support

The purposes of the Acres Homes website include: create a line of communication among Acres Homes residents; provide information to people who are interested in living or conducting business in the community. The Acres Homes website will showcase community events, organizations, community groups, and projects. Information will be presented in an entertaining and user-friendly manner. Residents will form working committees to manage the website updates and content.

The Acres Homes website will serve as a model for the creation of community web portals for the remaining six Houston HOPE neighborhoods.

The web portal training, provided by TLC², enabled community participants to build and maintain web sites using the open source Plone Content Management System. Plone is a valuable tool for the community since it provides easy-to-build websites using software at no cost.
