TLC2 researchers are travelling to SC06

Document Actions
Researchers from the Texas Learning & Computation Center (TLC2) are traveling to SC06, the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis, being held in Tampa from November 11-17. TLC2 will be participating as a founding member of the Gulf Coast Academic Supercomputing (GCAS) alliance, whose exhibit space can be found at Booth 1825.

TLC2 member groups and laboratories being represented include the Advanced Computing Research Laboratory, the Bioinformatics Lab, the Computational Physiology Lab, the Computational Biomedicine Lab, the Biomedical Imaging Lab, and the High Performance Systems Lab.

GCASThe Center will also be participating in the Gulf Coast Academic Supercomputing (GCAS) alliance, founded this year by TLC2 and the University of Houston, Rice University, and Texas A&M University. The GCAS schools are also charter members of the High Performance Computing Across Texas (HiPCAT) consortium and the Texas Internet Grid for Research and Education (TIGRE) projects. Areas covered by the three schools’ high-performance computing research include computational chemistry, digital imaging and visualization, finite element engineering applications, Grid computing, medical applications, and programming tools.

Faculty, staff, and students from the alliance will share exhibit space at SC06, with presentations on their current projects running throughout the conference days. TLC2 presentations will include the ALICE Large Hydron Collider High-Energy Physics project and a demonstration of the VGrADS virtual grid computing project undertaken with Rice. Texas A&M will present advances in computational materials science, compiler technologies, and the Prophesy Project, an infrastructure for analyzing and modeling the performance of parallel and Grid applications. Rice will showcase programming tools, including a Co-Array Fortran compiler and HPCToolkit, as well as initiatives in computational nanotechnology, computational biotechnology, and innovations in technology and education.

The Gulf Coast Academic Supercomputing alliance is in Booth 1825. Exhibit dates are November 13 to November 16.
