Texas Finite Element Rodeo, February 28 – March 1, 2003
Drs. Ronald Hoppe, Yuri Kuznetsov, and Tsorng-Way Pan of the Department of Mathematics organized the 2003 Texas Finite Element Rodeo. Known as The Finite Element Circus when hosted outside of Texas, this annual Rodeo drew over 50 participants from surrounding areas. The conference gets its unique name from the informal manner in which it is organized. At the on-set audience members volunteer to give presentations. Based on the one and a half day format and number of presentations, the length of the talks is set and the order is randomly assigned. Talks were devoted to the theory and applications of the finite element method, and related areas of numerical analysis and partial differential equations. The Texas Learning and Computation Center provided venues and logistical support.
