Programmable Devices and Medical Imaging
This talk will provide an overview of the medical imaging activities within the DSP Solutions R&D Center at Texas Instruments, and
demonstrate how programmability can provide benefit to these devices.
TI researchers Dr. Murtaza Ali and Dr. Dave Magee will describe several imaging modalities and the image generation in each mode, with particular focus on ultrasound, x-ray, and optical coherence tomography. They will describe how these systems can benefit from the real time, low power, and high computational performance of DSPs. This talk will then go into some of the relevant details for an ultrasound system as an example.
Drs. Ali and Magee will also discuss system trends for the next five to 10 years, and give insight into system needs and signal processing
requirements for programmable devices. The talk will take place Monday, April 6, at 11 a.m. in PGH232, and is open to all faculty and students.
