Mission Statement

The High School Science Club, located in Houston Texas, has as its primary goal fostering an appreciation for science and technology among young students, along with a reflection on science responsibility to promote social justice by respecting ethical values. The club aims at reaching young students in the Houston area to promote a reflection on the ethical boundaries of science and technology.

Information for Summer Camp 2012

The call for applications to the summer camp for the year 2012 is now closed. Congratulations to our new students for the summer of 2012! The list of students accepted to the program is as follows:

Students will be assigned to a research project under the supervision of an active scientist. Researchers and local teachers will act as mentors as the student explores, discovers, and proposes various research directions. The goal of the camp is to open a communication line between talented young students and the scientific community, by working hand-on-hand in real state-of-the-art scientific projects. At the end of the summer camp we will have a poster session where each team will show the results obtained from their work. We will award the three best projects with an honorific diploma.

The dates for the summer camp are as follows:

Starting date: Monday June 18, 2012
The meeting will take place at Rice University, 2nd floor of the Student Center (conference room).

Ethics Workshop (mandatory): June 27-28, 2012

Ending date: Friday July 27, 2012

Poster and Presentation Competition: Monday July 30, 2012
