Joe Peters Biography

Joe Peters is currently employed as the Communications Interoperability Project Manager for the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas in Austin. He has served in this position for four years. Prior to that, he served 30 years as a member of the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Trooper, Highway Patrol Sergeant and Texas Ranger. He is a lifetime member and former president of the Atascosa County Law Enforcement Officers Association and is a long time active member of the Sheriffs Association of Texas. He currently serves as Communications Committee liaison between the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas and the Texas Congressional Delegation, State Legislators and State Agencies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement from Southwest Texas State University, a Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education as well as a commission as a Special Texas Ranger
